Steps to Recover Lost Text Messages from HTC Phones

Step 1. Link HTC and enable usb debugging

Connect your HTC phone to the computer with a usb cable and launch the Android data recovery program, pick the "Android Data Recovery" mode in the main interface, you will see the below interface.

If you turn on usb debugging before, your phone will be automatically detected, else you can follow the below steps to enable it.

1. For Android 2.3 or earlier: Enter "Settings" < Click "Applications" < Click"Development" < Check "USB debugging".
2. For Android 3.0 to 4.1: Enter "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging".
3. For Android 4.2 or newer: Enter "Settings" < Click "About Phone" < Tap "Build number" for several times until getting a note "You are under developer mode" < Back to "Settings" < Click "Developer options" < Check "USB debugging".

Step 2. Choose data type and root the phone

Next you can choose the data type "Messages" and "Message Attachments" to scan and untick other data type, it will spend less time to scan your phone, after that, you can click "Next" to go on.
